Meat the Sampey Meats Team

  • Ray

    Meet the shop owner! Ray followed in his grandfather’s footsteps to become a butcher. He opened Sampey Meats in 2006, and his goal is to continue to provide a business that serves his community and helps the youth grow.

  • Ryan

    Ryan started working at Sampey Meats in 2017. He started his apprenticeship just 3 days after his first day and today he is the manager of the shop! When he isn’t in the shop, he’s out fishing or enjoying a surf & turf meal with his fiancé.

  • Kurt

    Kurt is a second year apprentice. He has been with us at the shop since 2018 after moving to Derby from Papua New Guinea. His favorite part of working at the shop is getting to hang out with the boys everyday. You can also find Kurt winning a match of cornhole, or out fishing with the boys.

  • Kalen

    Kalen finished his apprenticeship and became a butcher in January 2020. He started at Sampey Meats in 2018. He will always recommend you try the beef curry. If he’s not cracking jokes in the shop, he’s fishing or camping.

  • Ahzali

    Ahzali started with us on the 30th of August 2021. He is our newest retail assistant, so he is up front and ready to help the customers with their orders! He loves to interact with his community when they come into the shop.

  • Calvin

    Calvin is a first year apprentice butcher. He grew up in Geraldton, Western Australia and later moved to Derby. He started working at Sampey Meats in 2021. When he isn’t making pristine cuts in the shop, you can find him out fishing and enjoying a T-bone steak.
